Hello! My name is Massendra Musial, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Training (LPC-IT). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and trauma-informed. I believe each person has the capacity for growth and healing, and that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.
I recognize that trauma can have lasting effects on how we view ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. My work is informed by trauma-focused principles, including TF-CBT-informed interventions, and I have a particular interest in helping individuals heal from childhood trauma and Complex PTSD. I understand that healing looks different for everyone and strive to move at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.
While person-centered therapy serves as the foundation of my work, I also integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, attachment-based perspectives, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed concepts, and culturally responsive, multicultural practices. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to each individual's unique needs, experiences, and goals.
As a biracial therapist, I value cultural humility and strive to create an inclusive, affirming environment where clients of all backgrounds and identities feel respected, accepted, and supported. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of the healing process, and I am committed to meeting you with compassion, authenticity, and genuine curiosity wherever you are in your journey.
