Are you interested in getting support and guidance in your journey through life? My name is Mitch, and I am ready to help you.

I attended UW-Madison, receiving a B.A. with a Major in Psychology in 1990 and an M.S. in Counseling in 1994. I have over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have been a Motivational Interviewing Ambassador to work I’ve done in state service, learning to elicit reasons for change that is held within someone. I have worked for Goodwill Industries, Catholic Charities, Tellurian, Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Madison West Comprehensive Treatment Center, and BetterHelp in a clinical capacity. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor.

I have honed my counseling skills from a humanistic framework and adopted the teachings of Dr. Carl Rogers that include empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. I incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and use a holistic approach to change by helping clients build their Wellness Toolbox and strength their support system. I also focus on building one’s self-image, facilitate healthy relationships, improve problem solving skills with a solution focus, and determine what pursuits in life give one passion. Treatment plans are consumer driven and oriented to celebrate each success, no matter how small the accomplishment.

Throughout my career, I’ve encountered people from all walks of life, including the homeless, chronically mentally ill, intellectually challenged, to substance abuse addicts, and those that are suicidal. I have had extensive experience and education on domestic violence and working with perpetrators. I realized that I could combine my passion for nurturing mental health with my extensive work experience to help people stay focused on health and wellness, relationships, freedom, and career development. It is my belief that everyone has a purpose in life. It is my mission to help you stay focused on your goals!
